Existing science
Build on established medicines and proven technologies.
Our approach
Reversed innovation means finding new indications for existing technologies — and applying proven science to medical needs that remain unmet.
The meaning of reversed innovation
We are a biopharmaceutical company focused on reformulating and repurposing established pharmaceuticals. Through research and development, we explore how existing products and technologies can be applied to previously overlooked or underexplored medical challenges.
Our work brings together scientific research, established medicines and proprietary technologies. The aim is to develop thoughtful solutions that can make a meaningful difference for patients and healthcare professionals.
AFYX reports patent-protected technologies and competitive advantages across head and neck cancer, cluster headache, mucosal diseases and labour induction. The company’s research combines reformulation with proprietary patch-based drug delivery.
For AFYX, reversed innovation is a way of thinking: start with what is known, then ask where else it could help.
Research & development
Our research and development efforts target unmet medical needs in head and neck cancer, cluster headache, mucosal diseases and labour induction.

The published pipeline names Nimorazole for head and neck cancer; diamorphine and buprenorphine for addiction; misoprostol for labour induction; intranasal esketamine for cluster headache; clobetasol patch programs for OLP, VLS and RAS; and chemotherapy patch programs for oral premalignant lesions and head and neck cancer. The graphic indicates development progress by program and should be read as a June 2026 snapshot.

A purpose that started in medicine
For Dr. Claus Møller-San Pedro, the motivation to become a doctor was a desire to help people in need. During medical school, it became clear that his future would not lie in clinical practice. A research position at the Protein Laboratory at the University of Copenhagen opened his eyes to opportunities beyond the clinic.
“Early on, I became focused on experimental cancer treatment and immediately started thinking about how research could be translated into pharmaceutical products.”
